Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Indranee Rajah explained that the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) does not disclose the names of individuals unless they are charged in court.
The policy of non-disclosure is not unique to CPIB; law enforcement agencies in UK, US and New Zealand also adopt a similar approach. This is to avoid prejudice of individuals' rights to due process and also to avoid any presumption of guilt in the absence of any formal findings.
She was speaking in Parliament on 6 February 2023.
